Co-founder and Director

Nickolas co-founded Afore Consulting in 2007. Over a career of 20 years, he has come to be regarded as one   of the most influential financial services consultants in Brussels. Previously, he ran the global regulatory practice at a public affairs company. He has extensive experience in all areas of financial services and competition policy. He trained and worked as a merchant banker in Hamburg.

Nickolas has an MA in History and Politics from the Christian-Albrechts University, Kiel and has also studied and lectured at the University of Limerick and Queens University, Belfast. He speaks German, English and French.

Co-founder and Director

Anne co-founded Afore Consulting in 2007. She has been in Brussels for 20 years and is a trained barrister, called to the Bar of England and Wales by The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple. She oversees the running of the company. Having worked in the EU institutions, she also advises on engagement, strategy and campaigns.

Anne is Irish and has an MA in European Studies in European law, economics and politics from the University of Limerick. She also speaks French and German.

About Anne Keane


Senior Consultant

Jean covers insurance, accounting and tax issues. He follows the work of the standard-setting bodies and regulators in Europe, the US and the IAIS. Jean previously worked for a trade federation representing the accountancy and audit profession and for another consultancy in Brussels.

After his studies he completed internships at the United Nations in New York and the OSCE in Vienna. He is a law graduate having studied in France and the UK. He holds an LLM in European Comparative Law. Jean is French and speaks English, Spanish and elementary Japanese.

About Jean Plattard

PalomaGarcia Muñoz

Senior Consultant

Paloma leads on payments, data protection and cyber security issues. She has a background in the European Parliament where she worked with the Spanish Press Delegation. She also worked at the state tax agency in Granada, Spain.

Paloma is a graduate in law and business. She studied at Granada University, Spain and in the UK. She is Spanish and speaks English and French.

About Paloma Garcia Muñoz



Linda works on insurance, asset management and digital single market issues. Before joining Afore Consulting, Linda was a trainee in the Cabinet of the European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis. She also worked on institutional Affairs at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the EU during the run-up to the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU. She holds an MA in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe and a BA in European Studies from Maastricht University. She is Latvian and speaks English and French.

About Linda Strazdina


Junior Consultant

Luca covers banking recovery and resolution, taxation and Eurozone reform. He was previously an Advisor at the regional representation office of the Italian region of Emilia Romagna supporting activities on Cohesion Policy and the Multiannual Financial Framework. He was also a Robert Schuman Trainee at the European Parliament at the Economic Governance Support Unit.

Luca holds an MA in Economics from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Curore, Milan and a BSc in Economics of Businesses and Markets from the same university. Luca is Italian and speaks English and French.



Junior Consultant

Tina works on sustainable finance, infrastructure investment, accounting and auditing and EU-Asia. Previously she was a Robert Schuman Trainee at the European Parliament in the Policy Department for Budgetary Affairs.

She trained as a lawyer and worked for some time in her native Slovenia. She holds a Master of Laws from Leiden University and a BA in law from the University of Ljubljana. She is Slovenian and speaks English, French, Croatian, Bosnian and Serbian.

About Tina Samar


Hugo is a former Schuman Trainee at the European Parliament where he worked with the Co-decision and Conciliation unit in DG IPOL. He also worked as an EU Policy Officer at the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC) Brussels office.

He is a graduate in history from Trinity College, Dublin and holds a Master of European Studies from KU Leuven. Hugo is Irish and speaks French.

About Hugo Gallagher


Marta is a former European Commission trainee at DG CNECT, in the cybersecurity and digital privacy policy unit. She was a Research Fellow at the Kosciuszko Institute.

She holds a double Master’s degree in European Studies and Political Science from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and University of Strasbourg. Marta is Polish and speaks French and Italian.
